Summer comes but once a year, so best not waste it with a bog standard holiday. This year, we're looking to spread our wings and visit somewhere a little different from the usual.
If you fancy taking in a bit of Cali sun this summer, then Venice Beach is the one, and there's so much more to it than just its five-mile long beach. The Venice Beach boardwalk is obviously a must visit, but our top tip is the Abbott Kinney Boulevard. The area is full of amazing restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques, with so many options it would almost be impossible to get bored even if you were staying for a month.
The Indonesian island of Bali has long been a top tourist destination, and this year you couldn’t do much better than visiting Ubud. Famed for its rolling greenery and calming influence, Bali is the place to go if you want to truly get away from it all and switch off from the day to day this summer. Combining ultimate relaxation with great food and scenery, Ubud should be at the top of everyone's list.
So you've decided to go to Australia this year, but that doesn't mean it has to be Sydney. Melbourne is Sydney's sophisticated little brother, and we couldn't recommend visiting this year more highly. Visit the Ian Potter Centre to explore the many different cultures that have shaped the landscape of both the city and Australia as a whole, while the Queen Victoria Night Market is a spectacle everyone has to see at least once.
Last but not least, we have Cape Town. Cape Town is a melting pot of music, food and art, and we're sure you'll feel right at home as soon as you touch down. Take in the city's many fantastic bars and restaurants before plunging into shark infested waters, cage diving, to explore South Africa’s wild side.
