The Last Word

Ben Sherman Crisis Sessions - Weekend Wars

This winter, Ben Sherman is proud to partner with the homeless charity Crisis. For half a century, the charity has been doing its bit to combat homelessness. It’s an honour for us to join up with Crisis to celebrate the great work achieved over the past 50 years, and highlight the work still to be done through its Everybody In campaign.

Over the coming weeks, a selection of our Ben Sherman stores will be hosting gigs to raise awareness and funds for the charity, with our Carnaby Street and Birmingham stores playing host to The Spitfires and Kioko. In this installment of the Last Word we focus on the Weekend Wars who are set to grace the stage in the Liverpool store on Decemeber 14th

However for this week’s Last Word, we’re focusing on the band taking to our temporary stage in our Liverpool store on December 14th: Weekend Wars.

Formed in 2015, Weekend Wars are university friends and a savant ‘for hire’ singer currently reshaping the musical landscape and challenging the notion that Northern guitar bands have to come with swagger, Weekend Wars are refreshingly attitude free. Their ethos takes inspiration from the push and pull of daily life. How can music make our ordinary lives extraordinary?

After receiving airplay across 6 Music, BBC Radio Scotland and Virgin Radio and supporting such luminaries as Pete Doherty and the Dandy Warhols, the band are seriously on the up, and we’re incredibly excited to feature them as part of the Everybody In activity in partnership with Crisis.

Speaking about the charity, band member Jack Arnold said:

“We think everyone, no matter who you are, should be able to get into a bed at night not worrying about where your next meal is going to come from. There are over 250,000 homeless people in the UK and 4000 people sleeping on the streets each night. Now compare that to the over 600,000 empty houses, surely something needs to change."

To support the initiative Ben Sherman have collaborated with Crisis to create an ‘Everybody In’ tee where a £5 donation from each tee will go to help raise funds and awareness of the charity’s work, ‘Everybody In’ to end homelessness.
